Dusseldorf The Munich electric car start-up Sono Motors has filed for bankruptcy in the protective shield procedure. Bad news for 21,000 customers who have paid an average of 2,000 euros in advance for the planned Sion solar model, which has since been discontinued. Originally, the down payments were to be repaid step by step with the help of external financiers – this plan failed.
A total of 42 million euros is at stake. What opportunities do customers have in the protective shield proceedings? According to experts and experience from similar cases, unfortunately not good ones. Like all other creditors, they receive a certain quota from the bankruptcy estate. “As a rule, this is not very high, more like less than ten percent,” says Christoph Niering, chairman of the Association of Insolvency Administrators VID.
