According to a media report, the US software group and SAP rival Oracle is laying off hundreds of employees. Job offers would also be withdrawn and vacancies deleted, the “Insider” portal reported on Thursday, citing three people familiar with the processes.
The cutbacks are being made in the healthcare IT division, which includes Cerner, which was acquired in December for a good $28 billion. The reason is said to be problems at Cerner with a major order from the US government.
The laid-off employees will receive severance pay equal to four weeks’ salary plus one week for each year of service. At first no one could be reached at Oracle for comment. Several US companies had recently cut jobs against the background of higher interest rates and increased inflation.
