Berlin The Project Zero team, a Google-funded research group looking for security vulnerabilities, has issued a corresponding warning. According to them, the following are affected:
– Samsung smartphones including S22, M33, M13, M12, A71, A53, A33, A21s, A13, A12 and A04 series
– Vivo smartphones including the S16, S15, S6, X70, X60 and X30 series
– Google smartphones of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series
– Cars with the Exynos chipset T5123
When exactly the security gaps are closed via software update depends on the manufacturer of the respective smartphone. According to the information, the Pixel 7 devices have already been updated with the March update and are therefore safe.
The Project Zero team recommends the owners of the other devices to switch off two functions on the smartphone until their phone also receives a corresponding update. One is Wi-Fi calling and the other is Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE). The quickest way to find the corresponding switch is to use the free text search in the smartphone settings.
