Seattle, Munich Amazon is bringing the electric delivery vans from Tesla competitor Rivian, specially developed for the world’s largest online retailer, to Germany. In the coming weeks, more than 300 vehicles will be on the road in Munich, Berlin and Düsseldorf, as both companies announced on Tuesday night.
Amazon wants to use up to 100,000 Rivian delivery vans by 2030. The retail giant also took a stake in the electric car company with the 2019 deal. Value corrections to the share following delays in the production of Rivian models have repeatedly impacted Amazon’s balance sheet in recent months. Rivian builds an electric pickup and a large SUV in the USA and is thus active in popular vehicle categories there in which Tesla has not previously offered anything.
